The Start of Fall 08

Well, it was almost one year ago that Don and I found out that we were going to have another baby. We now are one week away from having a 4 month old. So that means it has been almost a year since I quit smoking -i stopped when i got preggo with Fenix- YAY ME!

I am 3lbs away from what I weighed before I got pregnant. So I guess that is pretty good to be back to my old weight, still would like to be down a little more though. But I cant really complain when I was about 180 lbs when Fenix was born. That is ALOT of weight to put on a 5ft frame!! I've lost a little over 40 lbs. (mostly water). So i better get to walkin' before the snow comes if i plan on getting any more off huh?

I have posted a BUNCH of new photos in our albums, you can View our Fall Slideshow or you can just go straight to the album itself to view the photos.
(On our photo site you can view the picture as thumbnails, in a filmstrip, or as the slideshow - just click the tabs at the top of the page)

Jareth is weighing in at 47 lbs & is 33 in.

KINDERGARTEN:
Jareth has been having some behavioral problems at school BUT he is still really excited about school!
-So far he has been learning about the letters M & T, and they are starting to learn about the letter F.
-He has taken a field trip to the dentist. (and got an awesome new toothbrush)
-For hot lunch he loves: cheese pizza, hot dogs, chicken nuggets, & sorbet.
-For cold lunch he loves: pb&j sandwiches, string cheese, apples, & pudding.
-Computer/Library is his fav class at school. He has been learning about different author's, his teacher likes the author: Robert Munsch -Jareth has really started to like his books too, hes checked out FOUR of them from the library.

I made a video for Jareth to show what an awesome big brother he is!
(this video is about 5 mins long)

At 3mos and 2 wks he weighed: 14lb 13oz.

Fenix has decided he does not want to be a 3mo. baby anymore. He wants to do everything all the big babies do. **except sleep**

This week he has started eating food (YAY) He loves his rice cereal, but so far it is not helping the sleep issue!!

Plus he decided that he was big enough to be in his exer-saucer. He just was not satisfied with other people deciding his view for him.

He is teething, as you can see from the video in the last post. Not much helps! Just the Tylenol & Orajel. He will only chew on Don & I's knuckles, and he perfers Don's over mine. The poor baby will just scream and cry and pull at his gums and bury his head in your chest. It is so sad!
We seem to be getting a couple days of a break this week, i am sure things will fire back up soon though. It is no vacation though he still manages to drool, vomit, and have diarrhea on our "off days".

April & Don Updates

Donnie has had a work injury for a while. He has pain on his left side: hand, wrist, & elbow. (he peels peperoni all night) He has went through one round of light work duty & physical therapy a couple months ago. He was told he had tennis elbow: an inflammation of several structures of the elbow. These include muscles, tendons, bursa, periosteum, and epicondyle. After a couple weeks with the therapist he felt better, and was released back to work normally.

His pain come back worse recently and more in his shoulder this time. They again put him on light-duty at
work, and went through physical therapy for about three weeks when they decided to do an x-ray and send him to a specialist. The specialist decided that it was: Rotator cuff tendinitis: an inflammation (irritation and swelling) of the tendons of the shoulder. The doctor gave him a cortisone shot told him to come back in three weeks. Don did have a mild reaction to the shot, and didn't feel well for the 24 hours after it was given to him, but he now says he is feeling much better and in allot less pain. His only physical restriction currently is that he is not allowed to lift his arm over his head (which his job does not require). Doc says that he should be good with some mild exercises at home.

April does not have much exciting going on, just work and the kids. The kids are doing well. Fenix is still getting over being sick, so mom gets as much sleep as the sick baby gets - and that is still an "if-y" situation. So, I'm pretty tired!
Jareth and I are trying out "homework time" whether his teacher assigns it or not. Either we do a couple pages of tracing/writing letters, counting, or quiet reading. He likes to read/look at his magazines (Highlights: High Five & Playground) especially the ones where he has to look for hidden pictures. He likes "homework time" (at least at the moment LOL).

Even though i am
not getting much sleep, i am putting it to good use. I managed to move our blog to this cool new site, at 2am the other morning. Hopefully I have updated all of our family & friends that we have moved. I am also hoping to get my portfolio (www.colddesigns.com) updated within the next couple of weeks. I have not put up any new designs for about a year. I would LOVE to do some personal design projects with photos of the boys, but it is not real high on the priority list, when it is so time consuming.

At work I keep busy with the normal: updating the web site (www.citizenscu.com), designing newspaper ads, designing & scheduling the electronic sign, and as always marketing research.
Besides the normal, we are so busy this season, so many community events happening that the credit union supports:
-We just got done with a blood drive, the "blood bus" parked in our parking lot and with some promotion we had an
-This year United Way: Day of Caring (
Sept 11th) has come to the Credit Union. We have formed a team to go to the fort dodge humane society to help in grooming, cleaning, walking, and in any other way we are needed.
-Right now my big focus is on designing the promos and brochure for "kidsfest" (a fund raising event that helps the ft dodge schools, where local businesses set up games and booths for kids to have a fun night in the mall). We will be promoting our kids savings account in hopes for some new members. But the job is fun and there is always some thing new to design or do!!

Sick Baby!
Fenix got his first cold (aug. 28th). But. . then it turned into him vomiting over labor day weekend. He ran a low fever and couldn't keep any formula in his tummy. So we had to start pedialite, then he wasn't keeping that in the tummy either.
Went to the doc (sept. 2nd), they suggested the "3 hour rule". Where you do not feed the baby for 3 hours then only give them a Tbs. every 20 mins. for 3 hours then up the amount a little bit at a time until they are back to the full amount. We started out with the pedialite then slowly went back to the formula.
He is doing better and we are now up to 3 oz per feeding, but he did have diarrhea this morning after being put back on the formula. I think that is now over with though, and that his is finally getting better!

BUMBO chair! - http://www.bumbobabyseat.com/
I spent some of my birthday money on a bumbo chair for Fenix. He had been sitting up on his own when you hold him for about a week or so, and gets very angry when we can not sit in a completely upright position. So, i decided it was definately time to get the bumbo! I had not planned on getting one so soon, but he decided otherwise. He likes it, he can see everything much better. It supports his back well but the chubby butt fits so snugly in it now, I'm not sure how long he will be able to use it LOL! (so i guess it's a good thing we got it earlier than i planned). Here are some photos of him in it. -- View our albums to see all the photos

  • He had a REALLY bad day on his 7th day of school he had to go to the principal's office. He hurt a student and disrespected his art teacher (stomped on her foot, bc he was not done with his project and did not want to stop working). • Today, was the he had a GREAT day and without getting into any trouble! he is very proud!

We have his calendar all written out so he knows what happens each day. His teacher sent home a calendar for the month also, so we hung that up with his in his room. Now he gets excited every night before bed when he sees what he gets to do the next day at school.

He is having lots of fun and making new friends!
